Objective: Increase engagement and atmosphere
Feature: Mechanical bull ride
Display: Live video feed to venue TVs
Impact: More engagement, more excitement
When most people think of CCTV, they think of security — not atmosphere.
But at Johnny Ringo’s, a well-known Brisbane venue, a strategically placed camera has become a tool for engagement, drawing more attention to the venue’s feature bull ride and encouraging patrons to explore different areas of the venue.
Here’s how we made it work — and why it’s a great example of thinking outside the lens.
The Challenge
Johnny Ringo’s has a popular mechanical bull setup — but this setup isn't visible to everyone all the time since the venue has multiple levels, meaning many patrons didn’t realise it was active or attracting a crowd. That meant missed opportunities for participation, and for atmosphere.
The team wanted a way to showcase the action in real time to patrons elsewhere in the venue.
A Smart Use of CCTV
We installed a Dahua camera equipped with WizColor technology and provided an HDMI output, aimed directly at the bull ride area. WizColor technology allows us to provide a video stream that is sharp, clear, realtime and stays in full colour, all the time.
The feed is displayed live on screens throughout the bar — showing patrons exactly what’s happening, in a format they already engage with: venue TVs.
It’s dynamic, instantly attention-grabbing, and gets people moving between levels.

Minimal Setup, Maximum Impact
The system was integrated using Johnny Ringo’s existing cabling and screen infrastructure. No extra software. No licensing headaches. No added complexity for the staff.
